Lucy is the stage name of Italian DJ and producer Luca Mortellaro, a techno artist closely associated with Berlin’s club and label infrastructure. Working across techno, minimal techno, and dub techno, he has been active as both a solo producer and a curator, with a profile that extends beyond performance into label direction and long-form artistic projects.

Mortellaro is the founder of Stroboscopic Artefacts, a Berlin-based imprint that has served as a platform for his own releases and for a broader aesthetic spanning hypnotic, reduced techno and more experimental approaches. His work under the Lucy name is commonly linked to a stripped-back, detail-focused production style, drawing on the spatial depth and repetition of dub techno alongside the tighter rhythmic frameworks of minimal and contemporary techno. In addition to releasing music, he has been identified with the role of DJ, presenting these ideas in club settings as well as in curated contexts connected to his label activity.

Although he is Italian by origin, Mortellaro has been based in Berlin, a move that aligns his career with one of Europe’s central hubs for techno production and performance. Under his own name, Luca Mortellaro, he is also known professionally, reflecting a practice that can encompass both the Lucy alias and his personal identity in credits and artist listings. The combination of producer, DJ, and label founder positions him as an artist whose output includes recorded work, performance, and the organizational work of running an imprint.
