Duke Hugh
Duke Hugh started on classical violin and lost interest around 12, which turned out to be the useful part. What came after was hip-hop beats, a reggae band and years in the mid-2000s beat scene, and all of it is still audible. He works out of Groningen, a Dutch student city with more nightlife than its size suggests.
He found Rhythm Section through Bandcamp and handed Bradley Zero a USB stick when the label boss played Amsterdam. That got him 'Canvas', nine tracks and the label's sixteenth release, moving between broken beat, jazz, house and downtempo without committing to one. He's released through La Freund Recordings since.
