Third Man Records
Third Man Records is an independent label founded and owned by Jack White, Ben Blackwell and Ben Swank. Originally founded in Detroit in 2001, it expanded into a physical Nashville location in March 2010, with a building that brought together the label's offices, a vinyl shop, photo studio, dark room and performance stage.
The company has grown well beyond the usual label model. Its operations now extend across Nashville, Detroit and Soho, London, encompassing live music venues, a vinyl pressing plant, film studio, mastering studio, publishing arm, vinyl subscription service, and a guitar pedal and gear company. Music remains central to that wider operation, with the label closely associated with Jack White's work and releases by The White Stripes, The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather.
Third Man's artist roster also includes acts such as Natalie Bergman, Hotline TNT, Die Spitz, Ted Lucas, Stef Detour, Dust Include and Australia's The Belair Lip Bombs. The label's physical spaces and related studios place recording, live performance, photography, film and record culture under the same banner.
