Stroom
Stroom is a Belgian record label focused on overlooked electronic music from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, alongside contemporary releases. Its catalogue is shaped by archival work—reissues and compilations that bring lesser-known material back into circulation—while also providing a platform for new recordings that sit comfortably beside those earlier sounds.
The label grew out of the online radio station Stroom.tv and was founded in 2016 under the wings of Music Mania. Stroom is run by Ziggy Devriendt, with art direction by Nana Esi. This background in broadcasting and curation informs the label’s identity, linking its release programme to a broader interest in context, selection, and presentation rather than a single, fixed genre boundary.
Stroom’s contemporary output reflects the same exploratory approach found in its reissue work. Artists associated with the label include Voice Actor, Dali Muru & The Polyphonic Swarm, Florian T M Zeisig, Charlotte Jacobs, Alex Deforce, merope, Martyna Basta, and Ben Bertrand, a roster that points to an interest in electronic and adjacent experimental music. Across these releases, Stroom’s emphasis remains on distinctive, often underrepresented sounds, whether sourced from past decades or recorded in the present.
