Stroboscopic Artefacts

Stroboscopic Artefacts is the Berlin-based label run by Luca Mortellaro, the producer known as Lucy. Founded in September 2009, it has focused on experimental techno and electronica, pairing club-rooted electronic music with a strong interest in sound design, texture and atmosphere.

The label's identity extends beyond its releases. Album artwork and promotional films have been developed with Oblivious Artefacts, a visual group also associated with the techno label Prologue. This visual work gives Stroboscopic Artefacts a distinct presentation alongside its music, connecting its records to a broader audiovisual approach.

Under Mortellaro's direction, Stroboscopic Artefacts has released experimental electronic music that has received positive critical review. Its Berlin base and close association with Lucy place it within the city's techno culture, while its output makes room for electronica as well as techno's more abstract and exploratory forms.
