R&S Records
R&S Records grew from the partnership of Renaat Vandepapeliere and Sabine Maes, whose initials gave the independent label its name. Founded in Ghent, Belgium in 1983, it first operated under the name Milos Music Belgium, which issued one record before the R&S name took hold.
The label became a home for electronic music across techno, ambient, IDM and related forms, releasing work by Aphex Twin, Joey Beltram, Model 500's Juan Atkins, C.J. Bolland, Biosphere, Sun Electric, System 7, Dave Angel and Ken Ishii. Its catalogue also includes records by Capricorn, The Source Experience, Silent Phase, Robert Leiner and Paula Temple, linking Belgian roots with artists working across the wider international electronic music world.
R&S ceased operations in 2000, then relaunched in 2008. Its subsidiary Apollo Records returned the following year. The label remains independent and is managed from London by Vandepapeliere and Maes, with Andy Whittaker serving as label manager.
