The letter F indicates the format, which may not always be consistent, but generally follows these guidelines:
- -0 for limited first edition (Digipak, O-Card, etc.) for both CD and DVD
- -1 for LP or other vinyl formats
- -2 for jewel case CD or promo CD, DVD, occasionally used for limited first editions
- -3 for video tape (VHS), tape (MC)
- -4 for tape (MC)
- -5 for box sets, limited mail-order editions, bonus CDs and DVDs (generally limited bonus editions)
- -7 for some vinyl 7”s
- -8 for shape CDs (not all)
- -9 for picture vinyl (not all, especially when the release was only a picture vinyl or comes with a cover; a –1 may be used instead)
