Now Again Records is closely associated with archival reissues and compilations that foreground deep cuts from the 1960s and 1970s, especially in soul and funk. Its catalog also extends to newer projects that draw on those traditions, creating a through line between historical recordings and contemporary work shaped by the same rhythmic and melodic vocabulary.

The label was launched in 2002 by Egon as a subsidiary of Stones Throw Records. Over time it developed an identity built around curated selections of older material alongside releases by modern acts. Artists connected to the label reflect that blend: the Ngozi Family and Paul Ngozi point to its interest in historically significant recordings, while names such as Los Yesterdays and Soul Chargers represent newer projects aligned with vintage soul and funk aesthetics.

Now Again has also issued work by artists such as Kourosh Yaghmaei, and its roster includes acts credited as Record Player, Rapture, and Heaven. Across these releases, the label’s emphasis remains on groove-driven music and the recovery or presentation of recordings that fit within its broad soul, funk, and related archival remit.

Since 2012, Now Again Records has operated independently. It is also credited under the variant name “Now-Again.”
