Night Slugs emerged from London in 2010, founded by Alex Sushon, better known as Bok Bok, and James Connolly, known as L-Vis 1990. The English electronic label grew out of a shared interest in club music that could move freely between styles rather than sit inside one fixed genre.
Spin described Night Slugs as having developed “one of the most distinctive sounds in U.K. dance music,” a mutable blend of grime, house, electro, R&B, techno, hip-hop and dubstep. That mix runs through the label’s identity: sharp rhythmic ideas, bass weight and dance-floor functionality, with references drawn from both UK club culture and wider electronic music.
