Kitsuné
Kitsuné is the music arm of Maison Kitsuné, the French lifestyle company founded in 2002 by Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki. Built alongside the company's fashion, gallery and hospitality work, the label forms part of a wider Maison Kitsuné world rather than operating as an isolated imprint.
Its name comes from the Japanese word kitsune, meaning fox. In Japanese tradition, the fox is said to be able to change its appearance and face, an idea that informed the company's many directions across music, fashion and culture. The fox also became a prominent motif in Maison Kitsuné's ready-to-wear collections.
The label has also operated under the names Kitsuné Music and Kitsuné Musique. Within the Maison Kitsuné structure, Kitsuné Musique sits beside Café Kitsuné, the company's coffee-shop brand, reflecting the founders' approach to connecting recorded music with design, food and an international retail identity.
