Jagjaguwar
Jagjaguwar is an American independent record label based in Bloomington, Indiana. It was founded by Darius Van Arman in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1996, and later relocated to Bloomington in 1999 after an invitation from Chris Swanson of Secretly Canadian.
The label’s roster has been associated with indie and alternative music, spanning singer-songwriters, experimental projects, and guitar-driven bands. Artists connected with Jagjaguwar include Sharon Van Etten and Bon Iver, alongside acts such as Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Crack Cloud, Lonnie Holley, Cut Worms, Folk Bitch Trio, and Dinosaur Jr. Across these releases, the label has maintained an independent identity while working with artists whose music ranges from intimate, lyric-forward songwriting to more exploratory and abrasive forms of rock and experimental music.
