Glasgow Underground

Glasgow Underground was established in 1997 by Kevin McKay. He launched the label by releasing his own music and collaborations with friends and other artists from Glasgow such as Omid 16B, Studio Blue, DJ Q, and Harri. Through his DJing and writing for music magazines like Muzik, Jockey Slut, and Mixmag Update, he connected with some of his favorite producers at the time, including Romanthony, Mateo & Matos, and Idjut Boys, convincing some to release on GU.

In the early 2000s, Kevin collaborated with Mylo to set up the Breastfed Recordings label. The international success of "Destroy Rock & Roll" meant Glasgow Underground was temporarily shelved. After departing from the Breastfed label in 2011, Kevin revived Glasgow Underground, which has since re-energized Romanthony's catalogue with remixes from artists like Dixon, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Gerd, Andrés, Oliver $, Ejeca, Audiojack, Claptone, Christian Nielsen, Supernova, Jimmy Edgar, and Waifs & Strays.

The label has also introduced producers such as Daniel Trim, Brett Gould, Mia Dora, and Illyus & Barrientos, as well as releasing tracks from both established and emerging talents like Metodi Hristov, Stefano Ritteri, and Sabb.
