Glasgow Underground
Glasgow Underground was founded in 1997 by Kevin McKay, initially as a home for his own music and collaborations with friends and fellow Glasgow artists including Omid 16B, Studio Blue, DJ Q and Harri. McKay's work as a DJ and writer for Muzik, Jockey Slut and Mixmag Update also brought producers such as Romanthony, Mateo & Matos and the Idjut Boys into the label's orbit.
In the early 2000s, McKay and Mylo launched Breastfed Recordings, whose success with Mylo's Destroy Rock & Roll put Glasgow Underground on hold. McKay restarted the label after leaving Breastfed in 2011. Its later releases included renewed work around Romanthony's catalogue, commissioning remixes from artists including Dixon, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Gerd, Andrés and Claptone, while also releasing producers such as Daniel Trim, Brett Gould, Mia Dora, Illyus & Barrientos, Metodi Hristov and Stefano Ritteri.
