Sub Focus
Sub Focus is the stage name of Nicolaas Douwe Douwma, an English DJ, producer, songwriter and sound engineer who has released records since 2003. Born on 13 April 1982 and originally from Guildford, United Kingdom, he works across drum and bass and electronic music, with releases also drawing on breakbeat, dubstep, drumstep, electro house and liquid funk.
His self-titled debut album, Sub Focus, arrived on 12 October 2009. He followed it with Torus, released on 30 September 2013. In 2020, Douwma collaborated with fellow drum and bass artist Wilkinson on the album Portals, issued through Casablanca Records on 9 October. His fourth album, Evolve, was released on 12 May 2023.
Alongside his work as a recording artist, Douwma's credits include production, programming, mixing, mastering and recording engineering. He has also released music through labels including Positiva, EMI, Columbia, Armada Music and Darkroom Records.
