Soichi Terada

Soichi Terada is the Japanese electronic music composer behind the soundtrack for the Ape Escape video game series. Born in Tokyo on March 19, 1965, Terada began producing music in 1989, while also remixing singers including Nami Shimada.

In 1990, he and fellow producer Shinichiro Yokota formed Far East Recording. The label released a range of albums and singles, providing a home for Terada's house-rooted electronic work. After issuing the album Sumo Jungle in 1996, he composed the music for 1999's Ape Escape, bringing his rhythmic, melodic approach to video game music.

Interest in Terada's earlier recordings rose again with the 2014 EP The Far East Transcripts. The following year brought the album Sounds from the Far East, which led to touring and further music-making. Across his work as a producer, composer and remixer, Terada has moved between electronic dance music and game soundtracks while maintaining a distinct connection to the Far East Recording catalogue.
