Shadow Child

Simon Christopher Bird (born 20 January 1977), from Portsmouth, England, is a British artist, producer, and DJ best known as Shadow Child and Dave Spoon. He has also been credited as Simon Neale, and has used a range of other aliases including Child, Shadow, Shadowchild, The Shadowchild, Revivalist, and Polymod.

Bird’s work spans solo releases and collaborative projects. He is a member of Lovequest, a group formed with Doorly and Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears. He is also part of MASC, a duo with Mark Archer of Altern 8.

Alongside his production and DJ work, Bird has maintained a profile in radio. He was previously included in BBC Radio 1’s “In New DJs We Trust” line-up. He later spent nine years on Rinse FM, and from 2022 became a resident on the re-launched Kool FM, presenting the “DNA” radio show.
