Prince Royce
Prince Royce broke through in 2010 with “Stand by Me” and “Corazón Sin Cara,” two singles that reached number one on Billboard’s Tropical Songs chart in the United States. “Corazón Sin Cara” also topped the Hot Latin Songs chart, helping his self-titled debut album reach number one on both the Top Latin Albums and Tropical Albums charts. The release earned him three Billboard Latin Music Awards in 2011, including Tropical Album of the Year.
Born Geoffrey Royce Rojas on May 11, 1989, in New York, Prince Royce is an American singer from a Dominican family. He became interested in music early, writing poetry and experimenting with songs as a teenager. At 19, he met Andrés Hidalgo, who became his manager and introduced him to producer Sergio George. After hearing three demos, George signed Royce to his label, Top Stop Music. Royce has recorded in Spanish and English, working across bachata, Latin pop, and urbano styles.
His second studio album, Phase II, arrived in 2012 and again reached number one on the US Latin Albums and Tropical Albums charts. Its singles included “Las Cosas Pequeñas” and “Incondicional,” and the album received a Latin Grammy Award nomination for Best Tropical Fusion Album. In 2013, he released Soy el Mismo, preceded by “Darte un Beso.” That album brought a second Latin Grammy nomination, this time for Best Contemporary Tropical Album.
Royce shifted toward a primarily English-language release with 2015’s Double Vision. The album included “Stuck on a Feeling,” featuring Snoop Dogg, and “Back It Up,” featuring Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull; both singles charted on the Billboard Hot 100. His fifth studio album, Five, followed in 2017 and became his fourth number-one album on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart. Its final single, “Déjà Vu” with Shakira, became the album’s most commercially successful release and was certified 9× Platinum (Latin) by the RIAA in the United States.
