Omar Apollo
Omar Apollo earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist after the release of his 2022 debut album, Ivory. Born Omar Apolonio Velasco on May 20, 1997, he is an American singer-songwriter who performs in both English and Spanish.
Using Omar Apollo as his professional name, Velasco has worked across bedroom pop, R&B, soul, funk, indie and alternative R&B. His songs draw on melodic songwriting and a blend of pop and R&B forms, with bilingual vocals part of his recorded work.
After signing with Warner Records, Apollo released Ivory in 2022. The album received positive reviews and led to his nomination at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
