Motörhead
Motörhead was a rock and roll band often mistaken for metal, though they significantly influenced the genre. Formed in London, England in 1975, the band was led by vocalist/bassist Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister. Recognized as pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal in the late '70s, Motörhead left a substantial legacy spanning 40 years. Despite numerous lineup changes, their most iconic lineup featured Lemmy on vocals and bass, “Fast” Eddie Clarke on guitar, and Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor on drums. Their signature song, “Ace Of Spades,” comes from their album of the same name.
On December 28, 2015, the band's official Facebook page announced Lemmy's passing at age 70, following a brief fight with an aggressive cancer, while he was with his favorite video game and family. The subsequent day, drummer Mikkey Dee confirmed the band had disbanded, though it continues to live on in the hearts of many.
