Mike Shinoda
Michael Kenji Shinoda, born February 11, 1977, co-founded Linkin Park in 1996 and became one of the group's central musical voices, serving as co-lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, primary songwriter, and producer. His work with the band brought together rap, rock, electronic textures, and melodic songwriting, with Shinoda moving between rapped verses, singing, instrumental parts, and production duties.
Outside Linkin Park, Shinoda created Fort Minor in 2004, a hip-hop-driven project that gave him a separate outlet for rap-focused material. He has also produced tracks and albums for Lupe Fiasco, Styles of Beyond, and the X-Ecutioners. Alongside his recording work, he co-founded the California label Machine Shop Records.
Shinoda's solo debut, Post Traumatic, arrived in 2018. The 18-song album addressed his feelings following the death of Chester Bennington, his Linkin Park bandmate. His work also extends beyond music: Shinoda is a graphic designer and visual artist whose paintings have been featured at the Japanese American National Museum.
