Mike Dunn

Mike Dunn is a Chicago DJ, producer, and vocalist associated with Chicago house, classic house, and deep house. He is closely linked to a succession of independent imprints and studio projects that reflect his long-running involvement in the city’s club-music infrastructure as both an artist and an operator.

In the late 1980s, Dunn ran Dance Mutha Records, a label active between 1988 and 1990 and later relaunched in 2024. During the same period, he also ran Warehouse Records and its sub-label Muzique Records with fellow Chicago producer Armando Gallop, with both operations cited as running from 1988 to 1990. These ventures place Dunn within the network of artist-led labels that helped circulate Chicago house during and after its formative years, with Dunn working not only as a producer and DJ but also in roles that supported the release and distribution of records.

In the late 1990s, Dunn co-ran Deep Soul with vocalist Byron Stingily and Mike Weiss, described as operating between 1998 and 2000. His work is also connected to The Dunngeon, referenced as Dunn’s studio, and to Blackball Muzik, identified as his current production company and publisher. Alongside his own productions, Dunn has credits that include remix work and vocal performances, reflecting a practice that extends beyond purely instrumental track-making.
