METZ is a Canadian punk rock band formed in 2007 in Ottawa and later based in Toronto. The group is a trio: Alex Edkins on guitar and vocals, Chris Slorach on bass, and Hayden Menzies on drums. The band name is often styled in all caps as METZ.

Edkins has described the band’s sound in direct terms. In an interview with the Austin, Texas zine The Cosmic Clash, he said punk rock is “at the core” of METZ’s style. The band is commonly associated with heavier, noise-leaning strains of punk and rock, including noise rock and post-hardcore, alongside related tags such as indie punk and noise pop.

METZ has been signed to Sub Pop Records. The group’s lineup has remained centered on Edkins, Slorach, and Menzies, with Edkins serving as the band’s primary vocalist while also handling guitar.
