Men I Trust

Men I Trust built its catalog independently, releasing a run of studio albums that began with its self-titled debut in 2014 and Headroom in 2015, then expanded with Oncle Jazz in 2019 and Untourable Album in 2021. The Canadian band, formed in Quebec City in 2014, later released the companion albums Equus Asinus and Equus Caballus in 2025. Its music moves through indie pop, dream pop, downtempo and shoegaze textures, with restrained arrangements and soft-focus electronic detail.

The group consists of Emmanuelle Proulx on lead vocals and guitar, Jessy Caron on guitar and bass guitar, and Dragos Chiriac on keyboards. Odile Marmet-Rochefort was the band’s singer during its early 2014-15 period. Caron and Chiriac created the project before Proulx joined; according to Proulx, they had initially hoped to call it Trust before settling on Men I Trust.

Men I Trust has maintained a hands-on approach to its work. The members record, mix and master their music themselves, as well as shooting their own videos and managing the project independently. Alongside its studio albums, the band has issued the physical-only EPs Men I Trust in 2017 and Tailwhip in 2018.

The band has described its writing as rooted in direct personal experience rather than fictional characters or stories. Its lyrics often take the form of broad, philosophical ideas intended to hold a feeling over time, with the members sharing an emphasis on material that feels true to them.
