Mat.Joe

Mat.Joe is a Berlin-based DJ and producer project associated with house music, including deep disco house and tech house. The act began as a duo formed by Matthias Neitzke and Johannes Schulz, working under variations of the name such as Mat Joe and Matjoe, before continuing as a project led by Neitzke alone.

In addition to his work as Mat.Joe, Neitzke has been involved in Berlin’s independent club and label ecosystem. In August 2021, Mat.Joe and Johannes Schulz co-founded the Berlin artist collective and imprint PRÏMA alongside C’mon, Otistic, and Anacover. The project’s releases and appearances have been connected with labels including La Bamba, Fool’s Gold Records, Superlover Music, and Manic People, reflecting its placement within contemporary house and club-oriented electronic music circuits.

Mat.Joe’s recorded output includes original productions as well as remix work, and it has circulated under the Mat.Joe name and its alternate spellings. While the project’s lineup changed after its initial period as a duo, the Mat.Joe identity has remained tied to Berlin and to a house-focused sound that moves between disco-leaning grooves and more driving tech house material.
