
London Grammar
London Grammar consists of the indie-pop trio Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman, and Dot Major. Often described as a group emerging in a “post 'The xx'” era, they surpass and redefine these comparisons.
The trio was formed in 2009 at Nottingham University where Rothman studied Economics, Reid aspired to be a psychoanalyst, and Major pursued his English (Dot) major. Reid and Rothman connected through Facebook to collaborate and soon after noticed Major playing the djembe in the Student Union, inviting him to join. They gained positive local feedback and achieved significant breakthrough when they uploaded their track “Hey Now” to YouTube in 2012, which was well-received, leading to their signing with Ministry of Sound.
Their debut EP, Metal & Dust, was self-released in February 2013, including “Hey Now,” two new tracks, and a remix of “Hey Now” by Dot. The trio then collaborated with Ministry of Sound on their debut album, spending most of 2013 in the studio. If You Wait was launched in September of that year.
