Lamb of God
Lamb of God emerged from Richmond, Virginia, as Burn the Priest in 1994 and became one of the major bands associated with the new wave of American heavy metal. The group has sold nearly two million records in the United States, with two albums certified Gold by the RIAA. Across their career, they have released twelve studio albums, including two under the Burn the Priest name, alongside a live album, compilation, three DVDs, two EPs and twenty-eight singles. Their most recent studio album, Into Oblivion, arrived in March 2026.
The band’s lineup consists of vocalist Randy Blythe, bassist John Campbell, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, and drummer Art Cruz. Under the Lamb of God name, the group has become closely identified with heavy, groove-driven metal while also drawing on thrash, death metal and metalcore. Loudwire’s staff named Lamb of God the 39th-best metal band of all time in 2016. They have also been grouped among the “Big Four of 2000s metal,” alongside Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold and System of a Down.
Lamb of God received Grammy nominations in 2010 and 2011 for songs from their 2009 album Wrath, followed by another nomination in 2016 for “512.” Their touring history includes two runs on Ozzfest, appearances at the UK’s Download and Sonisphere festivals, Australia’s Soundwave Festival, Mayhem Festival 2010 and Gigantour. From 2008 through 2010, they toured on Metallica’s World Magnetic Tour, and later supported Slayer on the latter band’s final world tour in 2018 and 2019.
