Laidback Luke
Laidback Luke, the stage name of Lucas Cornelis van Scheppingen, is a Filipino-born Dutch DJ and record producer widely credited as a key figure in the rise of electro house and Dutch house during the late 2000s. Born in Manila on 22 October 1976, he later became associated with the Netherlands and built a career spanning house, electro, progressive house and big-room dance music.
Van Scheppingen founded Mixmash Records and has worked with artists including Swedish House Mafia, Steve Aoki, David Guetta and James Brown. His remix work has extended to recordings by Madonna, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Daft Punk and Depeche Mode. He also remixed Robin S.'s “Show Me Love,” a version that reached number 11 on the UK chart in 2009.
Alongside his production and DJ work, Laidback Luke is a martial artist. He has also released music through labels including Dim Mak Records, Armada, Smash The House and STMPD RCRDS.
