Kevin Saunderson

Kevin Maurice Saunderson, born September 5, 1964, is an American electronic dance music DJ and record producer whose work helped define the early sound of Detroit techno. Alongside Juan Atkins and Derrick May, he formed part of the Belleville Three, the trio often credited among techno’s pioneers and originators. Their connection began at Belleville High School, where Saunderson met Atkins and May after moving from New York to Belleville, Michigan, a Detroit suburb, at the age of nine.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Saunderson has worked across techno, house, acid house and minimal techno. He has also recorded under names including Reese, Tronikhouse, Esser'ay, Keynotes and K.S. Experience. His KMS Records label and KMS Productions company have been central to his professional work, while releases have also appeared through outlets including e-Dancer, One House and Armada.

Saunderson attended Eastern Michigan University. He is married to Ann Saunderson and is the father of Dantiez Saunderson and Damarii Saunderson. His brother is Ron Saunderson.
