American electronic DJ, producer, and artist.

Born: April 26, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Green Velvet, initially developed by house music maestro Cajmere (AKA Curtis Alan Jones) as a platform for his instrumental productions and regular DJ gigs, eventually gained more popularity than Jones himself, especially with club singles like "Preacher Man," "Answering Machine," and "The Stalker".

Jones, who played a pivotal role in the Chicago house resurgence of the 1990s with his Cajual Records, found success in 1993 with the Cajmere single "Brighter Days" (featuring vocals by Dajaé). Later that year, he established the sublabel Relief Records, mainly for instrumental tracks by himself and other artists.

In addition to releases from DJ Sneak, Gemini, and Paul Johnson, Green Velvet was featured on many of the early Relief singles, including its first, "Preacher Man," as well as "Flash" (also released on the UK label Open), "The Stalker," and "Answering Machine" (1997).

He started to complement his Green Velvet DJ gigs with quasi-live performances and released his first album in 1999. His self-titled release on F-111 Records the following year compiled a dozen of his earlier club hits, and his proper second production album "Whatever" (2001) was released on his own Relief label.
