Eddie Vedder
Edward Louis Severson III, more widely known as Eddie Vedder, was born on December 23, 1964, in Evanston, Illinois.
He began his musical journey at the age of 12 after receiving a guitar as a gift from his mother. Throughout his 20s, he was part of various bands, including Surf and Destroy, The Butts, Indian Style, and Bad Radio.
In 1990, Jack Irons from the Red Hot Chili Peppers gave Eddie a demo tape from a Seattle-based band called Pearl Jam, who were in search of a lead singer. Eddie wrote and recorded three songs which turned into "Alive," "Once," and "Footsteps" for the band. Upon sending these tapes to Seattle, he was promptly invited for an audition.
In addition to his contributions to Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder has cultivated a successful solo career with recordings for numerous soundtracks and compilations, such as the soundtrack for Into the Wild and the album Ukulele Songs.
