Dorian Concept

Dorian Concept is the stage name of Oliver Thomas Johnson, an Austrian composer, producer and keyboardist born on 16 September 1984. He adopted the name as a teenager, drawing it from the Dorian scale. His music brings together modal and free jazz, funk, hip-hop, electronic music, ambient work and soundscape textures, with keyboard playing at the center of his approach.

Johnson is also a member of Jacob's Salty and Bamboozling Ladder, the Austrian funk band known as JSBL. Beyond his own work, he has periodically toured as a keyboardist with Flying Lotus, performing alongside drummer Richard Spaven, and has collaborated with the Cinematic Orchestra. His output moves between composed material, production and improvisatory jazz-informed playing without treating those roles as separate worlds.
