Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, born on October 21, 1995, and better known by her stage name Doja Cat, is a rapper, singer, songwriter, producer, and dancer from Calabasas, California.

Her stage name comes from the slang term “doja,” which is a reference to marijuana, as well as her affection for cats. She began her music career by uploading many tracks on her SoundCloud and has been active since 2013 when she was discovered by Dr. Luke. She is signed to Kemosabe Records, Dr. Luke’s own Sony Music imprint.

Doja Cat's first EP, Purrr!, was released in August 2014 and featured the popular track "So High." Her debut album, Amala, was released in March 2018 and included the single “Candy.” In August 2018, she uploaded the video for “MOOO!” on YouTube, which quickly went viral. In early 2019, she re-released Amala with several new tracks, including “MOOO!” and another successful track, “Juicy.” Later in 2019, she released her second album, Hot Pink.

On May 1, 2020, Doja collaborated with Nicki Minaj for the “Say So (Remix),” marking their first collaboration. This song made history for the two artists as it debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the week of May 16, 2020. It was their first time reaching the chart's top spot, with more than 80,000 pure sales in the first two weeks.

Doja Cat released her third album, Planet Her, on June 25, 2021. The album was preceded by two singles: “Kiss Me More” featuring SZA and “Need to Know.”
