Dimitri From Paris
Dimitri from Paris built his sound from 1970s funk and disco, the records that fed into house music, while drawing equally from the cinematic language of 1950s and 1960s film soundtracks. Born Dimitrios Yerasimos on 27 October 1963, he is a French producer, DJ and composer of Greek descent, known for folding disco, house, electro and hip-hop elements into polished dance music.
Yerasimos was born in Istanbul and grew up in France. During the 1980s, he encountered electro and block-party hip hop, influences he later combined with the funk and disco records central to his work. His stage name, Dimitri from Paris, became attached to a style that links dancefloor rhythms with lounge and soundtrack textures.
His album Sacrebleu sampled music from films including Breakfast at Tiffany's, La Dolce Vita and The Party, bringing those mid-century soundtrack references into an electronic and house-oriented setting. Alongside his production and composing work, Dimitri from Paris has worked as a DJ and remixer, with releases associated with labels including Rush Hour, Cosmos, Le Plan Recordings and Heavenly Sweetness.
