Del The Funky Homosapien
Del the Funky Homosapien, born Teren Delvon Jones in Oakland, is an American rapper and a founding member of the Hieroglyphics collective. His 1991 debut, I Wish My Brother George Was Here, included “Mistadobalina” and production from Del, the Boogiemen, and his cousin Ice Cube.
He followed it with No Need for Alarm in 1993, working with fellow Hieroglyphics members including Casual, A-Plus, Snupe, Jay Biz, and Domino. After leaving Elektra, he issued Future Development in 1997 through Hieroglyphics Imperium, then released Both Sides of the Brain in 2000.
That year, Del joined Dan the Automator and Kid Koala for the collaborative project Deltron 3030. He also appeared on Gorillaz tracks “Rock the House” and “Clint Eastwood” in 2001. His later solo work includes 2008’s Eleventh Hour, released through Definitive Jux.
