Dam Swindle

Dam Swindle is the Amsterdam-based production duo of Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets. Working primarily in house music, the pair are associated with deep house and related styles, including float house, future garage, and minimal tech house. They have also released music under other names, including K98.

The duo first became widely known as Detroit Swindle, a name they used until November 2020. After that point they adopted the name Dam Swindle, aligning their identity more directly with Amsterdam while continuing the same collaborative partnership between Dales and Smeets.

Alongside their recording work, Dales and Smeets run the label Heist Recordings. The imprint has served as a central platform for their output and for projects connected to their wider circle, reflecting their role not only as producers but also as curators within contemporary dance music.

Across their releases, Dam Swindle have appeared on a range of house and electronic labels, including King Street Sounds, Aus Music, Mad Decent, and Needwant, in addition to their own Heist Recordings. Their catalog is generally situated within club-oriented house music, with productions that move between deep house foundations and more minimal, garage-leaning, or future-facing textures depending on the project and alias.
