Comeback Kid

Comeback Kid emerged from Winnipeg’s hardcore scene in March 2001 and has remained active long enough to release seven studio albums and seventeen music videos. The Canadian band’s seventh album, Heavy Steps, arrived in January 2022.

The group was formed by Andrew Neufeld and Jeremy Hiebert, who had previously played together in Figure Four. Neufeld now serves as Comeback Kid’s vocalist, while Hiebert remains on guitar. The current lineup also includes guitarist Stu Ross, bassist Chase Brenneman and drummer Terrance Pettitt.

Working across hardcore punk, melodic hardcore, metalcore and punk, Comeback Kid has carried the sound of Winnipeg’s Canadian hardcore community beyond its local roots. Their name was drawn from a newspaper headline about hockey player Mario Lemieux’s return to the NHL.
