Charlie Puth
Charlie Puth is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer whose early audience grew through song covers uploaded to YouTube. Born Charles Otto Puth Jr. on December 2, 1991, in Rumson, New Jersey, he turned that viral exposure into a recording career, signing with the label eleveneleven in 2011 before joining Atlantic Records and Artist Partner Group.
His first Atlantic-era single, 2015's “Marvin Gaye,” paired him with Meghan Trainor and introduced the polished pop and R&B approach that would define much of his own work. Later that year, Puth co-wrote, produced, and performed on Wiz Khalifa's “See You Again.” The single spent 12 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, received diamond certification from the RIAA, and brought Puth a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song as well as three nominations at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year.
“Marvin Gaye” led into Puth's debut studio album, Nine Track Mind, released in 2016. The album reached the top 10 of both the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart. Its Selena Gomez collaboration, “We Don't Talk Anymore,” reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. Puth followed it with Voicenotes in 2018, an album that produced the hit “Attention” and earned a nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.
His third album, Charlie, arrived in 2022 and also entered the Billboard 200's top 10. It included the top 40 singles “Light Switch” and “Left and Right,” the latter featuring Jungkook. Beyond his own releases, Puth has maintained an active writing and production career for other performers. He co-wrote and produced Justin Bieber and the Kid Laroi's 2021 single “Stay,” his first production credit without a performing role to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. His fourth album, Whatever's Clever!, was released in March 2026.
