Bibio

Stephen James Wilkinson, known as Bibio, is an English musician and producer whose work moves between analog lo-fi texture and a wide range of electronic and song-based forms. Born on 4 December 1978 and raised in the West Midlands, he first developed his sound through folktronica and ambient music, combining electronic production with a rough-edged, intimate recorded quality.

As Bibio's catalogue expanded, so did its musical reach. His recordings have included instrumental hip hop, indie pop, electronica, soul, funk and alternative R&B, alongside the ambient and folk-inflected approach associated with his earlier work. The recurring thread is a distinct analog lo-fi sound, whether he is working with electronic rhythms, instrumental passages or more melodic pop structures.

Wilkinson previously released music through Mush Records and later moved to Warp Records, where he currently releases as Bibio. He has also used the name 81810.
