BAYNK

Indie ElectropopVapor Soul

From a young age, New Zealand's Jock "BAYNK" Nowell-Usticke began learning to play the piano, saxophone, and guitar. Despite disliking his studies in chemical engineering, playing in a small band helped him appreciate music as his true passion.

While teaching himself music production, he was greatly inspired by Australian producer Flume to develop his unique style.

This journey led BAYNK to upload his initial original track "Sundae" on SoundCloud in 2015. Initially not receiving the expected response, he almost gave up on his dream before the track eventually garnered significant attention. This success resulted in an invitation to perform at St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival in Auckland, convincing him that he could pursue music professionally and tour globally.

In 2016, BAYNK released a remix of the hit "i hate u, i love u," featured among eight remixes on gnash's Spotify playlist.

The same year marked the release of BAYNK's first EP, which included popular previously released tracks such as "What You Need" and "Poolside." His second major project, *Someone’s EP II*, was released in 2019, quickly amassing millions of streams across all platforms.
