A hard rock band led by John Dyer Baizley originates from Savannah, GA, and is now based in Philadelphia, PA. Initially focused on guitar-driven sludge metal, the band's earlier releases have evolved into a more melodic rock style, occasionally incorporating bluegrass elements or psychedelic influences.

In 2012, the band endured a severe bus accident while touring in England, leading to the eventual departure of two members who needed time to recover.
