Anna Meredith
Anna Howard Meredith is a Scottish composer and performer whose work brings electronic and acoustic music into the same frame. Born on 12 January 1978, she has written and performed across contemporary classical and electronic settings, moving between composed works, instrumental performance and electronica-driven releases.
Meredith previously served as composer-in-residence with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and as PRS/RPS Composer in the House with Sinfonia ViVA. Those roles placed her work within major British orchestral institutions before her focus shifted further toward performing her own electronic music.
Her debut studio album, Varmints, arrived in 2016. Built around electronica, it received widespread critical acclaim and won the 2016 Scottish Album of the Year Award. Meredith has also supported These New Puritans, James Blake, Shlohmo and Broadcast, presenting her music in contexts beyond the concert hall.
