Alter Bridge

Alter Bridge emerged in 2004 from the aftermath of Creed, bringing together guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips with vocalist and rhythm guitarist Myles Kennedy, formerly of The Mayfield Four. The group was formally unveiled in January 2004, several months before Creed's official breakup that June, and took its name from a bridge that once stood near Tremonti's former home on Alter Road in Detroit.

Signed to Wind-up Records, Alter Bridge released its debut, One Day Remains, in August 2004. Much of the record had been written by Tremonti the year before. Reviews were mixed, but the album reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and earned RIAA gold certification in November 2004. The 2007 follow-up, Blackbird, received a warmer critical response, reached No. 13 in the United States and was certified silver in the UK. It also began the band's long-running collaboration with producer Michael Baskette.

While the members balanced Alter Bridge with other bands and side projects, the group returned with AB III in 2010 on Roadrunner Records. The album was met with critical acclaim and commercial success, while its lead single, “Isolation,” topped Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. Fortress followed in 2013, then The Last Hero arrived through Napalm Records in 2016. The latter became Alter Bridge's first top-ten Billboard 200 album since its debut and its first top-five release on the UK Albums Chart.

The band issued Walk the Sky in 2019 and Walk the Sky 2.0 the following year, before releasing Pawns & Kings on October 14, 2022. Its self-titled eighth studio album followed on January 9, 2026. As of 2023, Alter Bridge had sold more than 5 million records worldwide.
