A Certain Ratio
Founded in 1977, A Certain Ratio began as a quartet featuring Jeremy Kerr (bass), Martin Moscrop (guitar/trumpet), Peter Terrel (guitar/effects), and Simon Topping (vocals/trumpet). The band's name is derived from a lyric in Brian Eno's song "The True Wheel."
They are best known for their work on Factory Records, blending post-punk with funk and Latin American influences.
Throughout the years, the line-up has seen many changes and there have been periods of inactivity. As of 2024, the core members of A Certain Ratio are Jeremy Kerr, Martin Moscrop, and Donald Johnson.
